The palate is generously full and fruity with plush velvety tannins that lead on to a lingering tangy aftertaste. While ready to drink on release we expect this wine to improve for several years and live for well over a decade with careful cellaring.

Upon release the wine is bright ruby in colour. There is a teasing array of vibrant red fruit on the nose including raspberry, pomegranate, cherry and plum. Spice and herbal notes, as well as a savoury underlay, add to the wine's complexity. While the palate has generous fruit weight and velvety tannins, it is balanced with refreshing acidity and a structure that gives the wine classic North Canterbury tension and pinosity.

This wine has a star bright lemon hue and while lemons, limes and mandarins come to the fore, there is a background of ripe stonefruit such as peaches and apricots. Honeysuckle and honeycomb influences come from botrytis, which has also made the wine more full bodied and concentrated. It has a spine of natural acidity and tingling minerality that helps draw out the palate structure to a citrus zest finish

Since its inaugural 1962 vintage, Penfolds Bin 128 Coonawarra Shiraz has showcased the elegance and character of one of Australia's finest cool-climate wine regions. Sourced exclusively from Coonawarra's famed terra rossa soils over limestone and matured in French oak hogsheads, it offers a striking contrast to the richer, warmer-climate Shiraz styles for which Penfolds is equally renowned. The 2021 vintage reveals lifted aromas of blue fruits, violets and cracked black pepper unfold alongside mulberry, boysenberry and subtle baking spice, while savoury hints of paprika and cured meats add complexity. The medium-bodied palate is finely structured, balancing dark berry fruit with olives, spice and a seamless line of acidity. Silky tannins carry the wine to a long, poised finish, creating a cool-climate Shiraz that is immensely rewarding now and destined to evolve beautifully through to 2038.

Named after the historic Cellar 23 at Penfolds' Magill Estate, where Pinot Noir barriques are matured, Bin 23 continues the winery's long-standing pursuit of cool-climate Pinot Noir. Crafted from premium Tasmanian fruit, the 2024 vintage highlights the purity and finesse of one of Australia's most celebrated Pinot Noir regions. Raspberry red in the glass, it opens with aromas of fresh raspberry, dark berries and plum, layered with earthy notes, a hint of briny caperberry and subtle savoury complexity. The palate is beautifully balanced, combining juicy berry and stone fruit flavours with fine graphite-like structure, crisp acidity and silky tannins that carry the wine to a long, elegant finish.
